FLFA-1000  Hot Air Furnace

Warmth without
the big expense,
without the hassles.

Our simplest furnace and the easiest to install; No underground Pex pipe, No heat exchangers,
No proprietary parts, No water, No rust, No chemicals or water test needed ever.
Warmer than a heat pump by at least 60 F!
Saves you hundreds in fuel or electric costs every month!

Heat one building as warm as you want using our largest 2010 CFM blower.  The average household furnace fan is 1500 CFM so we are 33% larger for more air volume and heat.  Our closest competitor has the same 1500 CFM fan, only 10" ductwork.  Ours is 20% larger (12") for more air flow.

Our hot air furnaces weigh about double as the competition because their weight is only 780-950 lb, due to the 1/3 thinner firebox (3/16")!

Kiln heater - firewood drier

You can virtually do any smaller building 4375 sq. ft. or less, with this model and it will do it well.  This firebox is 28" deep and holds a whopping 16 cu. ft. of wood.  You can put 2' foot logs in it and they do not have to be split!  In fact, whole logs burn better and longer due to our 75 CFM forced air induction fan in the back, feeding oxygen in from the bottom, up through the grates just like a blacksmith's forge.

$6697 and heating up up to 4375 sq. ft. and has a BIGGER 3-speed 2010 CFM blower,
12" ducts, pull-out ash tray, more wood capacity which means less loading!

Thermowind Model FLFA-1000 aka TW-1000

NOT permitted in Washington state.

This is NOT a boiler and most laws speak about Outdoor Wood Boilers. So that MIGHT be your loophole.

Please check with YOUR state, county and town before buying because some states, counties and towns have their own state EPA or other laws!

Tell them that you want to install an outdoor hot air, waterless wood furnace.

If that is a no-go, ask about a COAL furnace, which is virtually the same and will burn wood even better because it has the 75 CFM forced-air induction blower feeding oxygen from the back, up through the grates, just like a Blacksmith's forge; giving you a super hot fire that will burn anything!

12" Galvanized Ductwork

This photo shows how many people run their ductwork through a basement window, which happens to be the exact size in many instances and makes installation a breeze!

12 inch ductwork

This customer did a great job, connecting his 12" insulated ductwork to the Hyprotherm Hot Air wood furnace - with a substantial shelter above it, with matching steel!

FLFA-1000 Pad Diagram

We recommend a 4" thick concrete pad to carry the weight of these furnaces because this model weighs 1400 pounds.
I made my pad 36" (3 feet) in the front, instead of two, for ample room to stand while loading.

You will need a substantial pad so that the boiler does not sink into the ground.

You can also use solid 4" concrete blocks or even pavers.   Many people use railroad ties for support.  The choice is yours.

20-year ON-SITE WARRANTY

1: 20-year ON-SITE WARRANTY!

- VERY IMPORTANT, with Hyprotherm you won't have to pay shipping back to the factory to get it repaired! We come to you for any major repair. FYI, other manufacturers will charge you to ship it back to your home after it is repaired, as well! (10-years on water jacket)
430-ton Press Brake

2: 430-ton Press Brake

We are the only manufacturer that uses a press brake to form a firebox and air jacket; both from 1 piece of metal.

Most everyone else uses 6 flat slabs of steel, with no inherent strength and that requires 12 welds because welds are the weak spots.

This new firebox and air jacket are formed using a 430-ton Press Brake, meaning less welds which means less potential for air leaks because leaks often start at welds; Almost as few welds as on a cylinder; Only 4 welds vs. 12 welds on a typical firebox. Three times less!

One Inch Thick Solid Steel Grates

1 inch solid steel Grates

3: One inch thick sold solid steel coal grates do very well.

Cast Iron Shaker grates are available as an option, mostly for those folks burning a lot of coal, where the coal is inclined to have clinkers.

Our smallest models have one grate, the next two sizes up have two grates and our largest models typically have three grates.

Pull-out Ash Tray

6: Pull-out Ash Tray

Most manufacturers make you open up the firebox door to clean out the ashes with a shovel.  You will quickly find out that you are not going to get anywhere near the firebox because it will be 800 F or more!

They want you to open the firebox door and you will need to leave it open to let the heat out and I call that wasting heat.  You will need to kill the fire to be able to shovel out the ashes and then you have to start a fire again, in the dead of winter.

With our furnaces you do it the easy way.  Even with a fire raging, you can pull out the ash tray, dump the ashes into a fire proof container and slide the tray back in without missing a lick.  Two handles on the ash tray make it easy.  Every ash tray is the same length as the firebox.

Hopsco Wadena vs Hyprotherm

FYI: If you are heating HALF as many square feet as our rating, you can load it just ONCE a DAY!
REMEMBER! There is no such thing as a furnace that is too big because it is NOT like an air conditioner,
where if you get one too big, it becomes inefficient.

This is like getting a bigger propane or oil tank! You can load it with more wood (full rounds - no splitting!) and it will burn longer and therefore you will load it less often.

No one has ever complained and said that I sold them one too big.
In contrast, many people have said,
"I wished that I listened to you!"

I have never heard of this furnace until I saw this post so I checked out the website. The first thing I noticed was the tiny air ducts, then I saw only 500 cfm fan?! Those two items would make me walk away and not look back.

COMPARE to our 20% bigger ducts AND our 34.6% larger blower!

²     OUR Flue drops down into the firebox 14 inches, trapping in the heat and the smoke but more importantly, the gases, due to this huge secondary burn chamber, which will be burnt off; valuable heat energy that would have been otherwise lost!

PLUS SolarGuard Reflective Insulation on top!

SolarGuard Reflective Insulation greatly increases comfort by reducing radiant heat gain. The barriers consist of a highly reflective material that reflects radiant heat rather than absorbing it. SolarGuard is effective used alone or in conjunction with fiberglass batts for optimal thermal performance.
